Campus Construction and Moves

August 24, 2022

Campus Construction and Moves Graphic A big thank you to the Campus Operations team for their incredible efforts coordinating all of this work, collaborating with IT, Facilities Management, outside contractors, and others.

ARC’s main campus saw a number of changes in 2022, including construction, offices and staff moving, plus name changes. Please use the Wayfind campus map to find your way around campus. Here is an update.

Construction is underway in the Technical Education area of the main campus. Some student parking spaces in the Myrtle East lot are being used by construction crews and access to automotive technology, welding, and horticulture is different. The construction work means several departments and offices have moved. Design and Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, and Energy have all moved to Technical Education West (TEW). The Design Hub has moved to Portable Village 604. The Technical Education Dean and faculty offices have also moved to the Portable Village. Automotive Technology and Welding remain in their current location.

Technical Education West (TEW) is the new name (starting Spring 2022) for what used to be called the Computer and Math Complex (CMC) group of portable buildings located near the Student Center.

The HomeBases - which started online in Canvas - now have on-campus locations. The Arts HomeBase is in Arts & Science 102; Business is in room 208 of the Diane Bryant STEM Innovation Center (STEM); Health & Service is in Health & Education 715; Language & People is in Davies Hall 103/104; Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation is in TEW 404; and STEM is in STEM 101.

There have been a number of moves related to the Welcome and Support Center building. The Transfer Center moved to this building from the Counseling Center location. There are now spaces in the Welcome and Support Center for Admissions and Records and Business Services. Some Financial Aid staff have moved to the Administration building but students will still receive services in the Welcome and Support Center.

The Center for Teaching and Learning has moved into the Instructional Technology Center, to bring all of our professional development work into one location. The building will be renamed at a later time.

In the Student Center, the former HUB space is now the UNITE Center. This space will house several programs, including the Asian and Pacific Islander Center, Black Student Success Center, Latinx Center, Native American Resource Center, Pride Center, PRISE, Puente, and Umoja Sakhu.

Other changes include the move of the Operations department from the Ranch House to the old CDC 100 (former EMT building), Funeral Services to Portable Village 606, and Nutrition classes to Portable Village 613A/B. In addition, IT has moved to the old Business Services area in the Administration building, Beaver Cares to the Welcome and Support Center, and TRIO from the Student Center to the Welcome and Support Center. In addition, CalWORKs and EOPS have moved locations inside the Welcome and Support Center. Just prior to the COVID campus closure, Workforce Development was moved to the Lower Library, the Sign Shop was moved to the old CDC 150 (previously home to EMT), Business Services was moved to the Admissions & Records area in the Administration building, and the Student Health and Wellness Center opened in the Student Center.
