Have you needed to take time off from work to care for a new child, aging parent, or other sick or dying family member? If you have, you may have discovered that the benefits offered for family leave and caretaking are lacking. As such, people may be forced to spend an overwhelming amount of their own money on caretaking or sacrifice their time and career to take on the caretaking role. This is a recurring theme in our country – caretaking is undervalued and those who take on the role as caretaker often do so at a cost. Why does the United States have such minimal commitment to caring for our people? In this event, the Campaign for Family Workplace Justice will host a talk and discussion about the care crisis in the U.S., particularly as it relates to the benefits we receive as employees (Faculty, Classified and Managers) in the Los Rios Community College District.
Attendance at this professional development activity is limited to LRCCD employees and invited participants.
