Academic Senate
The ARC Academic Senate is made up of faculty members who represent their academic divisions and senate executive officers who are elected to represent the entire faculty.
The purpose of the Academic Senate is to provide the faculty body with its formal representative voice in its role in participatory governance. The Academic Senate makes recommendations and represents the ARC faculty members in "academic and professional matters" per Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.

About Academic Senate
"Academic and professional matters", or "10 +1" , fall under the purview of the Academic Senate:
1. Curriculum, including establishing prerequisites.
2. Degree and certificate requirements.
3. Grading policies.
4. Educational program development.
5. Standards or policies regarding student preparation and success.
6. College governance structures, as related to faculty roles.
7. Faculty roles and involvement in accreditation processes.
8. Policies for faculty professional development activities.
9. Processes for program review.
10. Processes for institutional planning and budget development.
11. Other academic and professional matters as mutually agreed upon.

This is information pertaining to LRCCD Senate Led Committees as well as LRCCD Non-Senate Led Committees, both lists include only those committees with faculty representatives. Please note: other district committees, task forces, or other groups may be formed with varying number of faculty representatives who serve varying terms with no term limits, but are subject to regular review.
LRCCD Senate Led Committees with faculty representatives:
DISTRICT CURRICULUM COORDINATING COMMITTEE (DCCC) (LRCCD R-3412): ARC faculty are represented by three faculty members who serve no set term with no term limit, but subject to regular review.

Mathematics Competency Committee: ARC faculty are represented by one faculty member from Math, one faculty member from a related subject matter, and one faculty member representing assessment interests (non-voting) who serve 2-year terms with no term limits, but subject to regular review
Reading Competency Committee: ARC faculty are represented by one faculty member from Reading, one faculty member from a related subject matter, and one faculty member representing assessment interests (non-voting) who serve 2-year terms with no term limit, but subject to regular review
Writing Competency Committee: ARC faculty are represented by one faculty member from Writing, one faculty member from a related subject matter, and one faculty member representing assessment interests (non-voting) who serve 2-year terms with no term limit, but subject to regular review
District Matriculation Committee (DMC) (LRCCD R-3412): ARC faculty are represented by one non-counseling faculty and one counseling faculty member who serve 2-year terms with no term limit, but subject to regular review
LRCCD Non-Senate Led Committees with faculty representatives:
ACADEMIC CALENDAR (LRCCD R-7123): ARC faculty are represented by one at-large faculty member who serves a 1-year term with no term limit, but subject to regular review
BUDGET (LRCCD R-8122): ARC faculty are represented by the ARC Academic Senate President or designee and one at-large faculty member who serves a 2-year term with no term limit, but subject to regular review
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY (LRCCD R-3412): ARC faculty are represented by the chair of the ARC Technology Committee, the Instructional Development Coordinator or Distance Education Coordinator, and two at-large faculty members who serve no set term with no term limit, but subject to regular review
INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION (LRCCD R-3412): ARC faculty are represented by two at-large faculty members who serve no set term with no term limit, but subject to regular review
Other ad hoc committees, task forces, or other groups may be formed as needed.
ARC Academic Senate Meeting Schedule
According to the ARC Academic Senate's bylaws, "The Senate shall meet at least once a month during the school year". By tradition, the ARC Academic Senate meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month in the fall and spring semesters.

Formed in 1970, the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization. Created for the promotion and advancement of public community college education in California.
